I just had an idea -- and it may be somewhat goofy...
Get your pen.... this is big! What if cS had a guest designer, a big name -- I don't know who but I am sure that somewhere there is a designer who would love to participate and ask them to choose a project and do a submission. Not to actively participate in a project (it might even be a project that has already been completed), but to do a "star" design and discuss their process. This would be not just for the sake of bringing those kind of names to the site (which might have its own merits), but as a kind of "webinar" (I love that word, even though I am not Bill Curtis) - maybe once a month or so a different designer. It would certainly facilitate the learning aspect here for both designers and clients. Or, a variation taking in some other ideas - maybe there could be a guest designer that could maybe do a type of portfolio review over submissions of completed projects - and discuss them in a constructive way? Maybe even that idea but have designers submit a design or two they would like to put through that process? Kind of like that do at conventions or conferences. Just some random thoughts... David - brilliant idea! And you are right - it's big!
I play a lot of chess. A lot (50-100 games a week). And I always enjoy reading annotated games when an expert provides play by play color commentary. You're suggesting something similar and that could work really well. So, how can we persuade a guest designer or two to do this? We do anticipate inviting guests to author video and audio tutorials later this Fall, but you've suggested something different and really unique. I love it! Let's brainstorm... Ross

David, what an interesting idea!
Would others be interested in seeing a "How I Made This [logo, website, other morsel of greatness]" post from guest designers in the Blog?

A 'How I Made It,' video segment would be phenomenal. I think just about everyone on cS has come across a logo or design and has been rendered completely speechless over the unfathomably unique design. Whether it be big name designers or even creatives here on cS, I think the video segment idea is wonderful.

So, we have our first tutorial! Dirk (username: drik) put together a very nice tutorial showing how he recently designed a logo for a client. Read about it in our blog:
http://blog.crowdspring.com/2008/09/...e-qlicks-logo/ And please thank Dirk (in the blog) for sharing... Ross
