We have talked as a community about standards of conduct appropriate in this community (this version is for buyers - a version for creatives is available here).
We want your input! Please suggest additions, changes, etc. We will keep this thread open for 10 days (until October 24) and will then review input from all, finalize the standards of conduct, and publish them on crowdSPRING. We will provide each new buyer with a copy of these standards when they register and will make the standards accessible at all times by everyone. We are serious about enforcing these standards. To build a world-class community, we must all come together as a community and respect each other and people who visit this community. So - this is your chance to help us define what conduct is or is not appropriate for buyers in our community. Please leave your constructive comments, and invite your friends and buyers on crowdSPRING to provide their comments too. We hope to have a good discussion about these standards. They will affect all of you and this is your chance to work with us to shape them. Ross DRAFT Standards of Conduct for Buyers These standards of conduct were developed in collaboration with the crowdSPRING community and this community expects every buyer on crowdSPRING to follow it. 1.1 Provide consistent and constructive feedback to as many of the entries in your project as humanly possible. You have our solemn oath that this will result in better entries to your project. 1.2 Select your winning design(s) within 7 days after your project ends. 1.3 Never violate the intellectual property rights of another person and never, ever ask someone else to. Everything on the site is owned by the person who originally created it until it's bought and paid for. 1.4 Never ask one creative to use a concept introduced by another creative. When a creative submits a unique idea, we respect and protect that idea. 1.5 Please be nice in private and public communications. Don't be mean, nasty, malicious, obnoxious or otherwise unpleasant to another user no matter how much they may deserve it. 1.6 Always be honest.

My 2 cents. If you are going to not give consistent feedback, due a thigh agenda or whatever, please inform the creatives from the beginning. |

Great stuff, Ross.
Could you please add something about the wrap-up process? Something like: Please do your part to help the wrap-up process move along, as the creative(s) do not get paid until you approve the final files. |

It looks good to me! I think something along the lines of what Audree suggested, but maybe even a more general point about making sure the buyer is familiar with the wrap-up process before the project closes? I have found almost all of my buyers are unaware of the the nuances of awarding and wrap-up. (Even though I know you provide a detailed tutorial). Maybe they need a really simple big picture breakdown of how it goes, with a link to the more detailed tutorial? I guess I'm not sure how/if this would fit into the code of conduct, but it is an important part of the deal for creatives.
Maybe something like: 1) After the project closes, award the creative before you ask them for revisions. 2) Your proof is not your final delivery. 3) Creatives can't upload revisions to the proof until you DECLINE the current proof. 4) Creatives can't upload final delivery until you ACCEPT the current proof. 5) Creatives don't get paid until you ACCEPT the final delivery. |

I am finding that many buyers don't have WinZip or another program to unzip the files, so they decline and ask that they be sent in another format. Of course, I tell them to download the trial version of WinZip so they will be able to open, and it is a great program that ultimately they may want to have down the road. I usually send the files seperately in my email, but it is still a hassle.
Can we address this from the beginning with the buyers? |

I will say this though, I've never gotten past the home page really, but I know that LogoTournament.com only has ONE deliverable file type, .EPS...every other file type conversion, etc. is the responsibility of the buyer...you want to make "WRAP UP" easy, adopt that policy...I'd dance naked under the moon for a week!!! There was a review on TV the other day for this site www.youconvertit.com I haven't tried it, but it may be useful to some buyers.
